📖 Overview

Credits are the currency used on HolyExplorer to access AI-powered features. Every time you use an AI feature — sending a message in the Bible Chat Widget, requesting a scripture explanation in the Bible Reader, or generating images, videos, or narration in the Bible Digital Media widget — a number of credits is consumed based on the type of operation.

Your subscription plan includes a monthly credit allowance that resets each billing period. When your subscription credits run low, you can purchase additional topup credits at any time.

Your account has two separate credit balances that work together seamlessly:

How the system works: Subscription credits are always deducted first. Topup credits are only drawn from when your subscription balance hits zero.

⚡ Credit Costs by Feature

Credits are only consumed for AI-powered operations. Within your subscription, browsing scripture, reading passages, and using the Bible Explorer do not consume credits.

A note on credit figures: The costs shown are our best approximates based on current rates but can adjust based on request complexity. Also, because HolyExplorer's processing infrastructure costs can change over time, credit costs may be updated to reflect those changes. We aim to keep this information current and will do our best to communicate any significant changes in advance.

💬 Bible Chat Widget

The Bible Chat Widget is the main AI-powered chat interface on HolyExplorer and partner sites. You can ask theology questions, explore scripture, and have in-depth biblical conversations. Each message that receives an AI response uses 1 credit. A full conversation of 20 questions uses approximately 20 credits.

Requesting an AI-generated explanation of a chapter or selected verses uses 1 credit. Simply reading scripture text is always free.

🎨 Bible Digital Media Widget

The Bible Digital Media widget creates AI-generated images, videos, and audio. This is the most credit-intensive section of HolyExplorer.

🔄 Create Variation

Generates a creative alternative of an image you have already produced, at the same credit cost as generating a new image.

🎵 Create Narration

~10–96 credits

Spoken audio reading of your scripture passage in a natural voice. Cost scales with passage length. A subtitle file is automatically generated alongside each narration.

🎶 Narration with Music

~25–35 credits

AI-generated sacred music combined with a spoken scripture reading. Available in Sacred Ambient, Christian Rock, and Christian Hard Rock styles, with Singing or Narrated and Male or Female voice options.

🌅 Slide Background Library

Free

Browse and apply curated biblical background images to your generated artwork. No credits are required to browse or use them.

✂️ Export Video

The Timeline Editor (Final Cut) lets you combine images, videos, audio, and narration. Creating and editing your project is free. Exporting uses approximately 10 credits per minute of finished video.

Video brings your generated scripture images to life through AI animation. You choose quality and duration when generating:

A 10-second video costs exactly double its 5-second equivalent. Choose 720p for a good balance of quality and credit cost, or 1080p for the highest quality output.

Video generation runs in the background and may take a few minutes to complete. You can continue using other features while your video processes.

🎵 Create Narration — Credits by Passage Length

An extended passage (~1,000 characters)	~48 credits
A long passage (~2,000 characters)	~96 credits

The longer the scripture passage, the more credits are used. If a passage exceeds the maximum length, you will be advised to split it into shorter sections.

⚠️ What Happens When Credits Run Out

If your available credits are insufficient to complete an operation:

The operation will not proceed
You will see a message showing exactly how many credits are needed and how many you currently have
You can immediately purchase topup credits to continue
Alternatively, wait for your subscription renewal date to restore your monthly allowance

Credits are checked before every AI operation begins. You will always know upfront if you have enough — you will never be charged partway through a generation.

If you run out of credits mid-month, you can purchase more at any time:

⚙️ Auto-Topup

Auto-Topup automatically purchases more credits when your balance drops below a set threshold, so your work is never interrupted mid-session.

Disabling Auto-Topup

Follow the same navigation path and toggle Auto-Topup Off. No further automatic charges will occur.

You can adjust or disable Auto-Topup at any time from your Billing Plans page.

Subscription Status

Active	Subscription is current — all features available
Trialing	You are in a free trial period
Cancelled	Cancelled — access and credits continue until the period end date
Expired	Subscription has ended — AI features require resubscription

Changing Your Plan

Scroll to the Available Plans section
Select the plan you want and complete checkout

Cancelling Your Plan

Your current plan card shows a Cancel Plan button
Confirm when prompted

After cancellation, your access and credits continue until the end of the current paid period. Any topup credits remain in your account permanently.

Click Manage Billing to open the secure payment portal where you can update your card details. Your full card number is never stored on HolyExplorer — all payments are processed securely through Stripe.

Topup credits are non-refundable once purchased, as they are digital credits delivered immediately to your account
Subscription payments may be eligible for a prorated refund depending on when cancellation is requested

❓ Common Questions

Do my subscription credits carry over to next month? +

No. Subscription credits reset at the start of each billing period. Unused subscription credits do not roll over. However, any topup credits you have purchased never expire and stay in your account indefinitely.

How do I know how many credits a feature will use before I generate? +

The system performs a credit check before every AI operation. If you do not have enough credits, you will be told exactly how many are needed and how many you currently have — nothing is generated and no credits are deducted until you have sufficient balance.

Why did my auto-topup charge happen? +

Auto-topup triggers when your total credit balance falls below the configured threshold. You can review or change your auto-topup settings, or turn it off entirely, from your Billing Plans page.

I purchased topup credits but they don't show in my balance. +

Credits are usually applied within a few seconds of payment. If they do not appear after 5 minutes, please contact support with your payment receipt.

My payment was declined. +

Common reasons include an expired card, insufficient funds, or your card issuer blocking the charge. Please update your payment method in the billing portal and try again.

I need a source image to generate a video — can I use my own images? +

Yes. In addition to generating a scripture image first, you can import your own images into the gallery from within the Bible Digital Media widget and use them as the source for video generation.

Does reading scripture or browsing the Bible Reader use credits? +

No. Reading scripture passages is always free. Credits are only used when you request an AI explanation of a chapter or verse range.

Does adding a background from the Slide Background Library use credits? +

No. Browsing and applying slide backgrounds is completely free.

Does exporting a project from the Timeline Editor use credits? +

Yes. Creating and editing your project is free, but exporting the finished video uses approximately 10 credits per minute of video duration.

What happens to my credits if I cancel my subscription? +

Your subscription credit allowance stops at cancellation. Any topup credits you have purchased remain in your account indefinitely and will be available when you resubscribe.

Can I use HolyExplorer without a subscription? +

An active subscription is required to access HolyExplorer. Within your subscription, browsing scripture and the Bible Explorer do not consume credits — only AI-powered features such as Bible Chat Widget messages, Bible Reader explanations, and Bible Digital Media generation use credits. We also offer a free limited trial of the app so you can explore HolyExplorer before committing to a subscription.
